EIC Projects | A-Leaf
The European market for innovation projects is strong. More than 1,000 startups and SMEs submitted their project in the first deadline of EIC scheme. Some of the best projects submitted under the this scheme are supported every year. We will gradually introduce you to selected and interesting ones. Inspirational ideas, innovative solutions, the scope of the project or the composition of the implementation team can also tell you whether your project plan can be financed from EIC schemes, whether it is Pathfinder, Transition or Accelerator. One of those successful projects is A-Leaf.
A-Leaf
A consortium of 13 entities consisting of technology institutes, a broad international academic team and a private company has managed to raise almost € 8 million from the EIC Accelerator scheme for research and development of this technology. The idea behind A-Leaf is simple. Imitating the photosynthetic function of green plants and algae is one of the major technological challenges that scientists around the world are currently looking for solutions to. The A-Leaf (Artificial Leaf) project seeks to implement an artificial photosynthesis platform: to capture and transform solar energy into chemical energy as a sustainable substitute for fossil resources.
